Indies Turn Down Hummer

This recent piece in an Austin newspaper has some interesting details on several indie bands that have been turning down major amounts of dough from Hummer and other Earth-destroying companies (pictured is DC’s own Trans Am).
Its a tough call, and I must say personally as a musician it would be very hard for me to turn down such lucrative deals. No matter what its nice to see that these groups made proper decisions about selling their music when its already so hard to make ends meet as independents.
Adult Swim Streams 24/7

The Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim has announced that they will be streaming full-length episodes for free online starting Monday March 27th. This is fantastic news for fans, based on the fact that those without DVRs and Tivos often have trouble catching their favorite AS shows with such late programming schedules.
Truthfully, I haven’t been as much into the newer shows they’ve recently debuted (Boondocks was a very large disappointment) but the brilliance of Aqua Teen and Tom Goes to the Mayor (pictured above) will never cease to amaze me.
New Yeah Yeah Yeahs Tunes

Some new YYYs tracks have begun showing up: the new single is entitled Gold Lion [mp3] which has a nice repetitive indie rock swing to it. Not the most inventive of tunes but it has some nice hooky riffs/lyrics and gives me a positive outlook on what other new material is to come.
The second track, which seems to be B-Side, is called Let Me Know [mp3] and is considerably more down tempo. It also has a slight country twang on it, but more on the ballad-y side of things and honestly sounds a lot like it was thrown together pretty quickly.
